Meet our new Field Personnel: Brittany and Casey

Casey, Juniper and Brittany

Brittany and Casey are Cooperative Baptist Fellowship field personnel appointed to serve alongside the Christian Church in China.

Over the past 10 years, CBF has cultivated beloved community and partnerships with churches and church leaders in China. The current ministries are at a point of self-sustainability; however, this creates an opportunity to bear witness to Jesus Christ in new ways, building on the foundation that has been laid to develop new and different ministries. The local church has a vision to start new congregations around the city and will welcome assistance and support in developing these new points of ministry.

Brittany, a graduate of University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and Truett Seminary, is a former CBF Global Service Corps member, where she served in China. Casey, a graduate of Baylor University and Truett Seminary, comes to the Fellowship with a background in film and digital media.

What excites you most about starting your ministry in China?

Brittany: I am very excited to be going back to China and I am thankful for the opportunity to reconnect with Chinese Christians and partner with the local Chinese church.

Casey: What excites me most is that our beginning is a continuation of ministry that is already happening in China. Others have come before us who have laid the foundation and made the connections that make it possible for CBF to sustain a presence in the city. I am excited to partner with and work alongside the local Chinese church and its ministers who know the needs of their people and communities.

How have you felt most encouraged throughout the process of beginning your mission service with CBF?

Brittany: I am most encouraged by the way CBF engages in missions and partnerships. This work is so incredibly important and, at the same time, very challenging. I am encouraged by the way CBF partners with the local Christians in China and how CBF partners with its encourager churches. This helps us as field personnel to build important relationships both in our field of service and back home.

What biblical passage or image connects most with your calling to missions?

Casey: 1 Corinthians 12:12-14. “Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body — whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free — and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.”

Brittany: John 17·18, 20-21. “As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”

What do you like to do in your free time?

Casey: I like to cook, occasionally throwing some meat on the smoker; binge watching Netflix and trying to make things out of wood.

Brittany: I love being around people and being outdoors, especially going on hikes with my family in the park. I enjoy hosting friends and family, doing yoga (the only workout where it’s okay to fall asleep on your mat at the end), and relaxing and watching movies with Casey. I also enjoy taking way too many cute and funny pictures of our precious daughter, Juniper.

How can Cooperative Baptists pray for you?

Brittany and Casey: We appreciate prayers for our family as we prepare for this new season of life. We ask for prayers as we go as learners of this difficult language and new culture, and for our families back in the U.S. as we say our goodbyes. Please pray for us to be spiritually nourished and for ease in making connections and building relationships with those we meet, that we will bear witness to Christ in our lives.
