CBF’s Baxley invites Cooperative Baptists to join global Christians in reciting Lord’s Prayer

The following is a statement from CBF Executive Coordinator Paul Baxley:

Tomorrow morning, March 25, Christians across the world are being invited to set aside time to recite the Lord’s Prayer as an affirmation of the unity of the Global Church in the face of the COVID-19 global pandemic. Tonight, I join the World Council of Churches, Roman Catholic Church and leaders of Christian world communions in encouraging all Cooperative Baptists to pause at either 7:00 AM EST Wednesday morning or at noon Wednesday to recite the Lord’s Prayer.

COVID-19 is truly a global crisis. It is challenging ministries of congregations all over the world. But because the church of Jesus Christ is truly a global community, we have a unique opportunity to pray for one another and seek ways of serving together to offer the love and power of Christ in the midst of incredible pain, fear and uncertainty. Global cooperation among Christians right now is also a powerful witness over and against the polarization that is tearing nations of the world apart.

Please join Christians all over the world in this act of prayer, and pray that the Holy Spirit will offer us ways for closer cooperation with sisters and brothers in Christ so that we might offer healing and hope in this time of suffering, pain and uncertainty.

The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship is a Christian Network that helps people put their faith to practice through ministry efforts, global missions and a broad community of support. The Fellowship’s mission is to serve Christians and churches as they discover and fulfill their God-given mission. Learn more at www.cbf.net.
