DECATUR, Ga. — The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship is excited to announce the release of the 2024 Emmanuel McCall Lenten Devotional series. This new resource, available in English and Spanish, was prepared by CBF family and friends for the season of Lent beginning Feb.14.
The McCall Lenten series features wonderful reflections on God’s Word, thought-provoking questions, prayers, art, noteworthy information, resources for action and a Spotify music playlist. It is desired for use by individuals, small groups and congregations.
Rev. Kasey Jones, CBF Associate Coordinator for Outreach & Growth, shared the impetus for this new Lenten resource.
“We live in a curious time that is fragmented by anger, greed, self-gratification, anxiety and prejudice. The world would be a better place if we learned to love without limit,” said Jones, who leads CBF’s Dr. Emmanuel McCall Racial Justice & Leadership Initiative. “Each of us could benefit from a time of contemplative self-reflection, focusing our attention as the Bible teaches in 1 Cor. 13:4-7.”
With the theme of Love, Justice & Relationships, the 2024 McCall Lenten Devotional series aims to “encourage readers to push beyond the superficial and do the hard work of speaking the truths about love and how real love is the basis of justice for all of God’s people,” Jones said.
Jones invited readers to journey together through Lent reflecting on these devotions and their calls to pursue justice for all of God’s people.
