A friend of mine might be interested in pursuing the Kentucky Baptist Fellowship Missions Coordinator job/position/calling. To help with the discernment process, the friend asked me to share about my role with CBF/GA. Here was my response…Sorry for the delayed response. The rhythm of my new job is probably the most awkward transition from church ministry to “this.” Rather than a weekly rhythm with many givens on the calendar, every week is different.  This diversity of responsibility is refreshing in some ways and challenging in others.  Just the opposite of Kevin Costner’s character in Waterworld (dry land not moving felt odd), I feel a similar dissonance or unsettling because everything is always moving.  So if you don’t get seasick, you might like this kind of job.Another thought on the job: I feel like I’m performing the circus act of spinning plates.  Sometimes this is overwhelming, but other times I realize that this is not a solo act.  I relax and remember that several other people are participating in the plate-spinning all over the state.  In our churches, several ministries are conducted simultaneously.  And some projects/ministries involve multiple churches working together or maybe just an outside consultant at times.  So there’s a need for a lot of flexibility while also a parallel need for there to be a person who is aware of all the things going on at the same time.In any case, I love my job so far.  It’s challenging and rewarding and frustrating at times, and I can’t imagine doing anything else, as I feel a sense of calling and giftedness for this kind of ministry.Call or email me anytime, office or cell.Take care,Scott
