Reflections from Appalachia, Part 2

The following is a ministry reflection from Paula Settle, one of CBF’s field personnel in eastern Kentucky.

The women in Nada, Kentucky, are making earrings as a part of the Open Hand Enterprises economic development plan of Together for Hope. The ladies call themselves GORGEous Gals because we are one mile from the Red River Gorge area which is the 5th most popular place in the world to rock climb. 60 cents from each pair of earrings goes into a community account. We have over $450 in that account, and
today the ladies decided that for Christmas they wanted to buy grocery gift cards for the 13 senior adult families
in Nada. They seemed to be very pleased with their decision and I am also!

These senior adults will truly appreciate this extra money for food for Christmas and for the opportunity to
purchase what they like to eat.
