So many are asking, “What can we do to reach young adults?” or “How can we get young adults to come to our church?” If I were a young adult, I’d negotiate a signing bonus!! (Just kidding!)

But really, it’s about relationships. So many churches just have become so consumer oriented that they’ve forgotten about building relationships and deepening relationships. So many churches have become so service minded that they’ve forgotten about building relationships. It’s always been about the people!

Build relationships, deepen relationships. Not because you might increase attendance or increase giving. Focus on relationships because we love one another. This Advent Season, focus on relationships, not the class parties or the church services, or the chaos of consumerism. Focus on the people on your pathway. Be nice to the Sales Clerk, smile at your Waiter or Waitress, speak to the people sitting next to you in the Pew!

God came down at Christmas to live among us for a little while. Emmanuel is all about relationships. The best gift you have to give is the gift of your friendship. It’s about relationships, always has been, always will be! Duh!
