Over the weekend I joined the CBF of SC meeting being held at FBC, Greenwood. The theme was missional and on Friday night we heard stories from churches and individuals across the state of SC describing their missional journeys. What began as small ideas or minimal efforts had grown into great expressions of faith. Communities were changing, relationships were growing, and people were experiencing God’s love for them (some for the first time). The secret to their success was that there was no secret. There was no grand or complicated scheme at the start of these journeys. Instead, at the root of every story was someone who took the time to consider common needs in their community and ask (themselves and those in need) of how they could help. It was a reminder that that our efforts to help others–like our faith– even when small, can do great things.
