Lately, life has been nuts and I’m on the edge of integrity. What I mean is, I often preach the value of contemplative retreat opportunities, but too often wait until I’m on the edge to plan one for myself. I’ve always struggled with this in ministry. I’m amazed at how easy it is to look like you have it together while recommending that others need a retreat. Maybe I’m just hoping so, but if the stories of burnout that I hear regularly are any indication, this disposition is prevelant in ministry and among ministers with crammed schedules and always one more thing to do.
What about you? Need a retreat? Can I encourage you to go ahead and put it on the calendar, to plan now? CBF has some amazing opportunities coming up beginning in the fall. One or more of them is near you or easily accessible to you. For more information, click here: Upcoming Retreat Opportunities with CBF.
Why not make some space to listen for that voice, “You are my beloved child, with whom I am well pleased.”
Off to my quiet space.
