General CBF

Giving when it hurts

During the most recent Coordinating Council meeting, Finance Committee Chair Colleen Burroughs issued an impassioned plea to churches to continue to support the Fellowship, even though cutting undesignated funding or even the Offering for Global Missions would seem like an easy solution to financial difficulties. View Colleen’s comments.

At CBF, we’re well aware of the painful decisions churches are having to make. We empathize with those decisions and regularly lift up the churches of this fellowship in prayer during our weekly staff devotion time. At the same time, we’re grateful for Colleen’s boldness. Her call to action is a reflection of her passion for a movement of Baptists that gives her an identity, a place of service and way to be the presence of Christ to the world.

As a Resource Center, our only request of churches making difficult financial decisions is to prayerfully seek God’s guidance before making a cut. What’s easiest may not be what’s best for the Kingdom.

Thanks to all who continue to give to this Fellowship, even when it hurts. We are humbled and inspired by your partnership.
