Our Global Missions program is doing some heavy thinking about our future. People have been interviewed as well as organizations re: which dreams and vision, or advice, they have for CBF in the future and now groups of engaged people are working out plans to take our group down this road into the future. It’s pretty cool. This morning a group of about 8 people sat in a conference room in Atlanta listening to a speaker phone and viewing an extensive document via a computer and projector.
We were joined via “Go To Meeting” technology by a host of people around the world. Indeed the main presenter was in Nairobi, Kenya! Two other “presenters” of this group’s work were sitting in Macedonia and Slovakia. One man raised his hand “electronically” from Athens, Greece after the presentation had been made to voice admiration for the presentation. Rob Nash closed the gathering in prayer from Florida. I can’t imagine how much this meeting would have cost to bring everyone in for face-to-face dialogue. I’m glad when technology enables the local and global to coincide.
