‘Answered prayers and blessings’

The following post is from CBF field personnel Jade and Shelah Acker in Uganda:

Dear friends,

Greetings and Happy Thanksgiving from all of the staff at Refuge and Hope International!  We are thankful for you and the difference you are making in the lives of those affected by war and conflict!!!

Center of Hope
This Fall has been very busy with many answered prayers and blessings.  The Center of Hope now has over 100 students, from seven different countries throughout East Africa, enrolled in fourteen of the various classes which the Center offers. Current classes include; Computer, Conversational English, Reading, Writing, Sewing, Cooking and Sports. One of the goals of these classes is to offer students needed and basic skills in order to be able to further adapt to their life in Uganda.  We also hope to show the love of Christ in a practical manner as well as sharing about Him when we have the opportunity.

On Friday, November 12th, we hosted the first ever field trip for the Center’s ESL students.  We loaded up 2 buses with English students, interns and R&H staff to visit the Rwenzori Water factory, Kikara Sugar Factory and Bujagali Falls to see the Nile River. It was an amazing trip! For many students, it was their first time out of Kampala since arriving in Uganda. They had a lot of fun and built deeper relationships with their friends within the Refuge and Hope refugee community.  To see fun pictures from this field trip and other recent Refuge and Hope events, please visit our blog at:  www.refugeandhope.blogspot.com

International Christmas Celebration
We are excited about the upcoming International Christmas Party on December 11th . This event is an opportunity for students to come together to eat, fellowship and share with one another. It is also an opportunity for students to hear about the message of hope and healing in Christ. Please be in prayer about the International Christmas party. Pray for relationships to be built and that the students to grow in understanding of one another.

Prayer
Pray for much needed ESL and computer teachers. In December Missy and Robyn, the Refuge and Hope interns, will be returning to the US. They are currently teaching five ESL classes, two computer classes and one sports class. Please pray that God will provide the right replacement volunteers so that their classes will be able to continue.

Pray for much needed funds for all the programs and projects of Refuge and Hope International!!   www.refugeandhope.org

Thank you for your continual support and prayers. You ARE a vital part of the Refuge and Hope community.

Blessings,
Shelah Acker and the rest of the R&H team.
