This post comes from Jim Smith, CBF’s director of field ministries:
Information surfaced last night that Duane and Marcia Binkley, field personnel co-appointed by CBF and International Ministries of American Baptist Churches USA in 2007, were stranded in Cairo, Egypt, as a result of the demonstrations which have unfolded. They were visiting their son, Sean, who is studying at Houghton College in Cairo, after attending a team meeting in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
The latest update gleaned from their son’s Facebook page comes via a relative who has been given access to Sean’s Facebook account. They are now at Cairo’s International Airport and waiting on a charter flight out to destinations being arranged by the U.S. embassy staff. It will most likely be a long wait until they can get on a flight, but it is good to know they are safe. CNN reports that Americans are being evacuated out to Cyprus, Turkey and Athens as spaces are available.
Please keep the Binkleys in your prayers as well as the country of Egypt.
