CBF responds to earthquake/tsunami in Japan

The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship is responding to the earthquake and tsunami in Japan through its partner, the Japan Baptist Convention. CBF is sending $5,000 for to meet immediate relief needs and has opened a designated giving channel available online, by phone at (800) 352-8741 or by mail at CBF, P.O. Box 101699, Atlanta, Ga., 30392. Be sure to indicate “Japan Relief Fund No. 17019” in the memo line of your check.

The Fellowship does not have field personnel in Japan, but our thoughts and prayers are with our brothers in sisters of the Japan Baptist Convention as they respond to this devastating event.

Takashi Hiroshima, CBF’s contact with the JBC’s Foreign Missions Department, said they are still collecting information about churches in the Northern area of Japan, but communication is difficult because of limited telephone service.
