NOTE: Bo Prosser is attending the “Back to the Well Retreat” in Marathon, Texas. This is a prayer retreat offering for ministers and church leaders to refresh and recharge following Holy Week and a long, hard Winter of work.
Today we have been challenged to see. Our prayer has been to be fully alive to the possibilities of God. We’ve been given a penny and challenged to see all the possibilities that one cent might bring. We’ve been reminded that what you see is what you get, that seeing is believing and believing is seeing. We’ve been invited to “come and see”!
We spent the day in Big Bend National Park. There is no way to “see” everything in this park. It is huge! But I did see a ton. I saw so many shades of beige, didn’t know beige had so many subtleties! I saw rocks, all shapes, sizes, textures. Didn’t know rocks could be fashioned in so many different ways. I saw mountain peaks and sheer cliffs and the Rio Grande River, though it was more like a little stream. I saw ground so thirsty that it was cracked and dying for a little drop of water. Mostly, I saw the evidence of God all around me. How could one see such wonder and not know that a Higher Power is at work in the Universe.
I saw and believed; believed and saw. Rocks, desert, river bed, and many shades of beige all reminded me that God is so much bigger than I could ever imagine. Thanks be to God!
