Josh Arnone and Jason Nazario are my new heroes.
These guys signed on to compete in the Missouri River 340 as a fundraiser for Water is Life International, the ministry organization of CBF field personnel David and Merrie Harding. Josh and Jason together are the face of Big Muddy/Clean Water, the official name of their fundraising effort.
They are updating their Facebook and Twitter feeds as the race draws near.
The only hiccup in their preparations for the 340-mile race from Kansas City to St. Charles, is that the Missouri River is flooding, and no recreational use of the river is allowed.
There are 600 paddlers signed up to participate, with vacations scheduled, so the event organizers have elected to keep the event at the same time – kicking off on July 19 and ending by July 22.. But they are changing the location. The MR 340 is moving to the Kansas or “Kaw” River.
Same concept, just a different river.
And all the donations to the cause will still help provide clean water for those who don’t have it. So while Missouri might have too much water right now, the race will go on and the efforts of Josh and Jason will benefit those who have too little.
Paddle on, my friends!
