First Class!

My colleague, Chad Reed, told me this story yesterday.

One of our greatest problems is getting supplies to help with our recovery program for homeless men.  We run on a “shoestring budget” and many times there is not enough money to purchase needed supplies.    It could be socks, deodorant, paper towels, notebooks or any number of random items.

On this occasion it actually turns out that we were running low on Bibles.   A generous church, some months ago, had given us a supply of beautiful Bibles and our supply was now low.    Chad relates that he began asking God to point him in the right direction of a benefactor who could donate Bibles for our Men’s Program.   One day last week one of our donation managers, of our shelter, came to Chad and told him someone had just delivered a box of Bibles.   “They did not leave their name and the only request was to make sure someone who needs these Bibles gets them.  Chad could you use these Bibles?”  our donation manager asked.   He opened the box only to find 12 brand new, never opened, leather bound study Bibles.    “These are premium high dollar Bibles” he exclaimed as he inspected each one.

Now, I must confess, had Chad asked me to help him get Bibles for our men, I would have looked for the least expensive purchase I could make with our “shoestring budget.”   Chad did the right thing.  He took his request to God who gives us the best money can buy.
