This update is from Jim Smith, CBF’s director of field ministries.
Earlier today two earthquakes, measuring magnitudes of 8.6 and 8.2, occurred off the coast of Indonesia. Several Cooperative Baptist Fellowship field personnel serve in this region, and all are safe.
We have heard directly via email from our field personnel living in the immediate area of the earthquake. It was especially comforting to receive email confirmation from one worker who lives in a very remote location and has challenges in communication. I have reassured our workers that many supporters are praying for their safety and continued ministry.
I hope you will join me in praying for this area of the world which has been shaken physically. Pray that opportunities for conversation and ministry will be opened as a result of this event. As things unfold we will seek to assist those in need.
