What can 120 volunteers do in about 10 days?

120 volunteers building a house for a family in Kentucky.

They can build a house for a family in rural Kentucky. Volunteers from more than 20 churches in Kentucky are joining the Kentucky Baptist Fellowship for the 7th annual Extreme Build June 6-16 in Pine Knot, Ky.

Extreme Build is a part of KBF’s rural poverty initiative, Mountain Hope, which seeks to improve the quality of housing in McCreary County one family at a time. For the past six summers, more than 125 volunteers from Kentucky and other states have given their time, money and energy to build a house for a family. Photos from construction

This year’s recipients are Charles and Mary Ann Brown, who have been married for nearly 30 years and have four children. Mary Ann is a full-time caregiver to Charles, who suffers from many serious health issues and a breathing condition exacerbated by the wood-burning heater in their home.
