CBF Disaster Response update on Oklahoma relief efforts

This update is from Tommy Deal, CBF Disaster Response coordinator.

Two weeks ago, Moore, Oklahoma was hit by a massive EF-5 tornado. Neighbors to the east in Shawnee, Okla. had experienced a tornado the previous evening.

This past Friday, May 31, El Reno and areas west of Oklahoma City were hit again. I along with my hosts Steve and Jennifer Graham and their son and his two children and dog sought shelter.

What nature takes away in seconds will take months, even years, to recover. But, recovery is beginning.

The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship’s strength when responding to disasters has always been responding to areas that have been neglected.

Oklahoma CBF Disaster Response Coordinator Jill Hatcher and Norman-area and Shawnee-area pastors have found several communities in Little Axe, Okla. in which the residents are alone in their attempts to recover.

They are getting weary and we have promised to get them help!

Please volunteer now!

Prepare to go as soon as possible and be the presence of Christ to these folks!

Pecan Valley Baptist Church, a small church not related to CBF, needs volunteers this week to help with receiving and distributing donations. In addition, work sites are being identified where volunteers can help.

NorthHaven Church in Norman and pastor Mitch Randall along with First Baptist Church of Norman and pastor Wade Smith continue to lead in finding needs and sending volunteers and resources to aid these affected communities.

CBF Disaster Response has secured housing at First Baptist Church of Norman and will be happy to assist you and your church with a mission trip to this area at any time during the summer.

Please contact Jill Hatcher at (405) 447-2471. Jill can help anyone connect with these churches or find additional opportunities to serve

I actually do have a few questions for you if it’s allright. Is it only me or does it look like a few of these remarks appear like they are written by brain dead people? 😛 And, if you are posting on other places, I’d like to
keep up with you. Would you make a list of every one of your shared sites like your Facebook page, twitter feed,
