Earlene Vestal’s mother dies at age of 91

Rebecca Jane Allen Black, mother of Earlene Vestal and mother-in-law of former CBF Executive Coordinator Daniel Vestal, died Saturday in Atlanta at the age of 91.

Black, a native of Commerce, Ga., was retired as director of circulation at the library of her alma mater Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. She was a member of Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church in Atlanta and previously a member at Tallowood Baptist Church in Houston, Texas.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 7, at First Baptist Church of Commerce with Daniel Vestal and FBC Commerce pastor Carlton Allen officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Peachtree Baptist Church, Atlanta, Ga., or the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Foundation, designated for the Daniel and Earlene Vestal Leadership Scholar Endowment.  Further information is provided below.
