A Prayer for the Karen People by Rick Sample

rick praying 1Recently, CBF Field Personnel, Rick Sample was invited to pray at a Karen Church’s 200th anniversaray of the first missionary to the Karen. Following is the prayer he shared with those attending the celebration:

Our heavenly Father, we gather together today to celebrate 200 years of Christian ministry among the Karen.  We are thankful that 200 years ago, you sent missionaries to Burma and led them to the Karen people.  We are thankful for those first Karens who made the decision to embrace a faith in Jesus Christ.  We rejoice for two centuries of leading the Karen people to grow in their Christian faith and to spread the love of Jesus.

I now pray for the Karen people who have come to the United States changing countries and encountering new customs in this western society.  I pray that Karen Christians will keep strong their faith and that as younger generations of Karen grow up in America, they will keep their faith in Christ vibrant and grow as Christians.

For everyone here today, I pray for continued grace on each of our lives.  I pray Your richest blessings for Karens and Americans and everyone who looks to you as their Savior and Lord.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen
