Thousands and thousands gathered this past Saturday on the National Mall in District of Columbia to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.
On this 50th anniversary, let’s celebrate Dr. King’s Dream. Take a few minutes to read his historic “I Have a Dream” speech or watch the video below.
At a recent event celebrating the anniversary of Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech held at Mt. Airy Baptist Church in Washington D.C., James Baucom, pastor of Columbia Baptist Church in Falls Church, Va., reflected on Dr. King’s Dream and the Civil Rights Movement. He told the crowd:
That same fight that freed you from oppression freed me from being an oppressor.
Fifty years later, what does Dr. King’s Dream mean to you? How can we continue to celebrate Dr. King’s Dream?
