The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship is sending $7,500 to assist two churches in Colorado affected by recent flooding.

Pine Street Church (formerly First Baptist Church) in Boulder, Colo., has been helping coordinate efforts in the area surrounding the church, involving more than 200 volunteers, primarily Boulder residents reaching out to help their neighbors. In many areas, the roads are flooded and local residents remain unable to leave their homes.

CBF is a member of Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD), which helps coordinate the deployment of assistance in disasters like this one. The Colorado chapter of VOAD has asked that volunteer organizations outside the state stand by until an official request for assistance is made. When the request is made, Pine Street Church will be ready to accommodate groups as they help with massive mud and debris removal.

Pine Street Church needs monetary donations in order to rent equipment, buy tools and distribute supplies to residents. Bob Ballance, pastor of Pine Street Church, is greatly encouraged by the generosity of CBF through donations to Disaster Response Ministries.

CBF is also joining up with long-time partner American Baptist Association Disaster Response, based out of Mt. Vernon, Ga. CBF has allocated $2,500 to ABA Disaster Response. Marvin “Moose” Jackson, ABA disaster response director, is sending $100 gift cards to Loveland Baptist Church in Loveland, Colo., where the gift cards will be distributed to residents on behalf of ABA and CBF to help purchase needed items such as food, water and cleaning supplies.
