Rev. Terri Byrd, coordinator for Alabama CBF, was awarded the Jack Naish Distinguished Christian Educator Award on Monday at the 2014 Churchworks! Conference in Huntsville, Ala. Byrd received the award for her outstanding leadership and achievement as a Christian educator.
Jack Naish, the award’s namesake, was the longtime minister of education at Wieuca Road Baptist Church in Atlanta, Ga., and a widely-respected Christian educator.
Byrd has served numerous churches in the areas of worship leadership and student ministry. In 2009, she became the associate coordinator for congregational life for Alabama. Last year, Byrd was selected to be the coordinator of Alabama CBF.
The daughter of a Baptist minister, Byrd attended Mercer University in Macon, Ga., and Beeson Divinity School at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala. Most recently, she served as interim pastor of Crosscreek Baptist Church in Pelham, Ala.
