The following is a news release from CBF partner organization Together for Hope Arkansas.
Together for Hope Arkansas (TFHAR) is excited to announce Janee’ Tisby as its new director. A native of Grandview, Missouri, Janee’ comes to TFHAR after several years working with Teach for America Mississippi, most recently as Chief of Staff.
A 2006 graduate of Stephens College, Janee’ became convicted about the inequities in the education system during her senior year and applied to teach with Teach for America (TFA), a national organization committed to placing teachers in under-resourced school districts. Through her TFA placement, Janee’ taught 5th grade in Indianola, Mississippi, and “fell in love with the challenges and possibilities of the Delta.”
Celebrating her tenth year in her “adopted home,” Janee’ is married to Jemar, a PhD student at the University of Mississippi, and they have a six-year-old son, Jack. According to Janee, Jack is a “professional wild thing” and her “favorite travel buddy.”
Outgoing TFHAR Director Mollie Palmer, said, “Janee’ is thoughtful, smart, experienced, and deeply committed to the Delta. She is the best possible leader for the next season of Together For Hope Arkansas! I can’t wait to see how Together For Hope Arkansas will continue to grow and find new ways to impact this community.”
Entering its fifteenth year, TFHAR works to empower communities and individuals to use their God-given gifts to end poverty in the Arkansas Delta. TFHAR partners with churches and organizations both within and outside the community to create opportunities for young people to grow and succeed through leadership development, service, education, and enrichment. TFHAR is a part of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship’s rural development coalition and partners closely with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Arkansas.
