As 2016 draws to a close, we thank God for you and the many ways you are making a difference in the world. In these urgent times, you are transforming lives and giving hope in places where there may be little.
Would you consider making a special, tax-deductible gift by December 31 to share Christ’s love with people in hard-to-reach places? People like Por?
Por is the second known believer among the Bisu people, a minority hill tribe in Thailand and Southeast Asia.
Through the generosity of people like you, CBF field personnel Kirk and Suzie were able to answer God’s call to live and serve among the Bisu community. Alongside the local people, they created a Bisu alphabet, and gave the community books and reading materials for the very first time in their heart language.
They have trained villagers to teach the language as well, so the work will continue even after they’re gone.
After 18 long years of work, Kirk and Suzie have recently finished translating the New Testament into Bisu. Having the Bible in their own language was an answer to prayer for Bisu Christians.
“There were words or phrases that really entered my heart,” Por said.
“Being present in a place for a long time gives you the opportunity to develop deep relationships with people through the ups and downs of life by just being there,” Kirk said. “We can give a word of encouragement and be a witness to Christ.”
This witness transformed Por’s life. And through her faith and witness, her entire family came to know God.
Por’s mother said, “Now our family belongs to God. God came into our lives and changed us.”
When you give, you become the hands and feet of Jesus. You offer hope and new life for children and families. You offer the love of Christ to the most neglected and marginalized people around the world.
“Together we’re trying to reach this world for Christ,” Kirk said.
We can’t do this work without you.
We ask you to prayerfully consider a year-end gift to CBF. You can be an answer to prayer for so many people around the world. Please give today.
