Humor Is the Antidote To _____ : A Conversation With the Laugh in Peace Comedy Tour

By Andy Hale

The last few months have offered upon the dais of life scores of horrific news. Over 5.5 million people have been infected worldwide, 1.6 billion face job loss and over 346,000 people have died from COVID-19.

You have heard the phrase, “Laughter is the best medicine.” But is now the best time to be finding humor in much of anything?

Researchers have found that laughter reduces blood sugar levels, reduces pain, allows us to tolerate discomfort, increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, and decreases stress hormones. Laughter activates the release of endorphins; the brain’s very groovy feeling chemical, which promotes well-being.

For 45-minutes, the CBF Podcast is inviting you to take a break and enjoy a good laugh.

It does seem like the beginning of a good joke, “A rabbi, a Muslim, and a Baptist preacher start a comedy group…”

Bob Alper, Gibran Saleem, and Susan Sparks form the comedy team Laugh in Peace Comedy Tour.  We sat down with the trio during CBF’s ChurchWorks conference in March.
