I’m sure you have heard a line like this before, “It was so much easier to raise kids back when…” The real question is, when was it easier to raise kids? And why do you think raising kids in that era was easier? For whom?
Contextually and generationally, being a parent is difficult, no matter the era. But, as a Christian living in America, it is easy to assume that a previous generation of Christ-follower parents had a lighter load than today’s era of social and political tension.
There is a lot of talk these days about family values. What is that? Who came up with those values? That seems too challenging to define since so many families are different based on context, culture, particular religious framework, and more.
We sat down with parenting author, blogger, and podcaster Monica Swanson. She has a new book, Raising Amazing: Bringing Up Kids Who Love God, Like Their Family, and Do the Dishes without Being Asked.
