Josh James, Psalms for Normal People

For those that think the Bible is boring, clearly, they have never read about the sea monsters. Apparently, I missed that one, too, in my various Old Testament courses.

“In the ancient world, sea monsters were mythical creatures that functioned as forces of chaos, as agents of fear and disorder. They lived in the dangerous waters of the deep, and they were, in a word, a problem,” said Dr. Josh James on the CBF Podcast Conversation.

For most people, Psalms is the source of dozens of worship hymns and praise songs, but it is so much more than this. “Whatever has brought you to this point, where I imagine you sitting in your favorite coffee shop armchair, flavored oak-milk latte and fancy fountain pen in hand, ready to read a book about the Hebrew Bible’s preeminent collection of ancient Israel’s theologically-infused songs and prayers, I’m glad you’re here,” added Josh.

Josh James is the pastor of The Restoration Project in Salisbury, Maryland, and the author of Psalms for Normal People, an imprint of The Bible for Normal People.
