Boy, masculinity has been batted around by conservative Christians these days. It’s the stump talking point as yet another weapon in the arsenal of the mentality that the world is out to get Christians.

Friend of the Podcast, Kristen Kobes Du Mez, has written extensively about the history of toxic masculinity within Evangelicalism over the last century. Through Jesus and John Wayne, Du Mez precisely links the generation-to-generation toxicities that have created what we have today.

But it’s more than Evangelicals. The Western church needs to reexamine needs to reexamine its culture and practices.

“The world, the church, my generation of Christians—we all need a positive vision for masculine sexuality. Yes, it’s a confusing time to be a man, but at the same time, the failures of men are all too clear. It’s time for men to face the truth, to repent of our cowardice, take responsibility, confess our sins, and seek healing,” said Zachary Wagner on the CBF Podcast Conversation.
