CBF names Rev. Dane Jackson as manager for mission service

By Aaron Weaver

DECATUR, Ga. — The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship announced today the appointment of youth and mission leader Dane Jackson to serve as Manager for Mission Service. In this role, Jackson will oversee mission service experiences and initiatives, working to connect individuals and congregations across the Fellowship to meaningful opportunities for global and local mission engagement.

Jackson has served as minister for students and missional engagement at Providence Baptist Church in Charlotte, N.C., where he ministered to students in grades 6-12 and their families and coordinated the church’s partnerships with mission organizations both locally and abroad, overseeing missions education, funding and service projects/trips. Previously, he served as minister to students at Second Baptist Church (Va.).

His leadership has extended beyond the local church with past service on the executive board of CBF’s Youth Ministry Network, the Youth Committee of the Baptist World Alliance, Coordinating Council of CBF Virginia and the Youth Advisory Team of CBF North Carolina.

“I’m excited to join CBF and the Global Missions Team to help connect individuals and churches across our fellowship to mission service experiences and initiatives, both locally and around the world,” Jackson said. “I look forward to cultivating partnerships, assisting State and Regional Organizations, and supporting our field personnel. Mission experiences have been a formative part of my spiritual journey and I am excited to invest in the future of the Global Church.”

Jackson’s new role will include identifying mission service opportunities and cultivating callings at both short-term and long-term levels, collaborating with CBF field personnel, Global Service Corps, Global Impact Volunteers and StudentServe. Additionally, Jackson will focus on forming partnerships with historically Baptist undergraduate and graduate institutions, encouraging students to engage in CBF mission service opportunities.

Dianne McNary, who serves as CBF’s Director for Mission Service Development, emphasized Jackson’s unique qualifications for the role.

“Dane brings valuable skills coupled with a heart for missions and the church. He is a great addition to the Global Missions team,” said McNary, who chaired the search committee.

A Virginia native, Jackson is a graduate of High Point University (Bachelor of Arts, Religion & Philosophy), Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond (Master of Divinity) and is completing his Doctor of Ministry degree at Fuller Theological Seminary. He also holds certificates from Princeton Theological Seminary, Yale Divinity School and Cornell University.

Dane and his wife, Caitie, who is also a minister, are licensed foster parents in North Carolina.

CBF Global Missions Coordinator Laura Ayala expressed her excitement for the impact Jackson will have in his new role.

“Missions is at the heart of CBF because it is at the heart of our churches,” she said. Dane will allow Global Missions to continue to strengthen our relationship with our congregations as we explore and offer mission opportunities locally and beyond.”
