One of the women who attends one of our Thursday meetings asked me if at the next meeting, she could share something that happened to her. Her name is Nouna. We worked on what she wanted to share, and her experience was a blessing. She had previously shared her story with me, and we prayed together many times about the problem she was having.
She had adopted her nephew on her husband’s side because she couldn’t bear children. The adoption was not official, but the child moved in to live with them at a young age. When the child turned six years of age, his biological father asked Nouna and her husband to put their apartment in the name of his biological son or he would take the son back. After some nerve wrecking negotiations, Nouna and her husband refused to surrender the apartment to the biological father, and the son was taken back to stay with his biological parents.
Nouna fell into depression and she shared that she couldn’t do much. Sometimes her husband would ask her to make him some pudding and she would promise him to prepare it. She would try to make herself walk to the kitchen but couldn’t. She would keep her clothes on for two weeks because she didn’t want to wash any of her clothes.
Despite all the depression, she always walked to the meeting and listened to the message from the Lord. A month ago, she was sitting in her apartment with her window open, she looked out at the beautiful day and prayed to the Lord asking Him to give her the strength to get out of her depression, start moving and tending to the needs of her family. That day, her neighbor who used to come down to check on her and help her with some chores, came again to clean her kitchen. But this time she said that she stood up and went to the kitchen. She worked for six hours cleaning the cupboards, the drawers and all the shelves. She woke up the next day and cleaned another room. The apartment has not had a good cleaning for many months.
She also shared that when we sing worship songs at the meeting, she feels joy while singing. She enjoys the words and sings with all her heart. The Lord has changed her life. He touched her and made her a new being. Her life has changed to the best. Hallelujah!
