Rough Waters – grateful hearts

Today – 8 of the 13 team members chose to go on a rafting excursion on the Nile River on their day off in Uganda.  It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience the Nile through white water rafting.  Part of the trip invovled Class 5 rapids and unfortunately – their raft capsized.  Thanks to excellent advance coaching by the rafting company and immediate response by their on board guides – all were quickly out of the water and safe.  There are some scrapes, cuts and bruises – but all have been tended to and everyone is well.  They asked that I write and let you know about their adventure and ask you to pray for good rest tonight as they begin again tomorrow morning on their schedule of MDG related experiences.    It was scary – but in spite of that – they all say they are glad they did it!

Thanks be to God!

  1. Hummm…8 of the 13 went on the river-rafting trip. I don’t know if the ones who stayed behind were extra sensitive or just not fans of frothing water, but I’m very happy to hear that everyone is safe. Two extreme Alpine runners died in Europe 4 days ago running up the Zugspitze (tallest peak in Germany) when the weather turned nasty and it began to snow. I’m praying that everyone will be safe on this remarkable trip.

  2. Praise God for His protection of you. We’ll be praying for healing for those thrown about.

  3. So glad everyone is back on dry land! As I was reading Amy’s entry I thought about this experience related to the Ethiopian experiences of water. This one showed the exteme power of water! We are thankful you all are safe!

  4. There is a saying that what doesn’t kill you strengthens you. Might apply in this case as I expect the 8 now have a bond that will not likely break. At some point in there lives they will reflect on the power of the water compared to their personal strength. There can be un-ending associations from there.
