I love the General Assembly! This is one of the best gatherings we do all year. Come and join us…here’s what you can expect!
Inspiration – Bible Study, walking the prayer labyrinth, and stimulating worship will fill your cup and leave you wanting more. The music and stories of missional ministry will thrill you!
Information – Between the sixty workshops and the hundreds of providers in the Resource Fair, you’ll need another suitcase to take home all the “stuff”! Some of the workshops will inform, some will inspire, and some will “info-train” you! Come expecting to take home lots more than you bring!
Inter-connectedness – The relationships that you make and re-establish will be uplifting. There is nothing better than getting together with former friends, reconnecting with Seminary classmates, and sharing hugs with thousands of your new best friends.
I love General Assembly. It is the best party we throw all year and the excitement is building. Begin praying and planning to join us in Houston. It won’t be that hot…it’s a dry heat!!
I think its wonderful that you will have a prayer labyrinth! I walked the labyrinth at the National Cathedral in Washington D.C. a few years ago on their last Tuesday of the month ecumenical contemplative service, set aside for folks with busy work schedules. After initially being worried I wouldn’t “do it right”, the stress of work and the anxiety of trying a new spiritual discipline melted away as I weaved through the course with other attendees. When I got to the center, I noticed a miraculous thing had happened. I felt connected to the “strangers” walking with me. We had all come to lay down our burdens and inch closer to our Creator by centering ourselves. We were all created in God’s image and longed for God’s presence in our lives. I hope that many folks will walk the labyrinth in Houston and come away with a feeling of interconnectedness with all persons walking through the journey of life!
