Churches across the land are facing the stress of change, the tension of transition. This year’s Leadership Institute at CBF’s General Assembly in Houston will offer some practical help in facing these challenges.

Al Winesman from the Gallup Organization will be our guest presenter. Al has authored a helpful book, Growing an Engaged Church. The sub-title addresses the needs being expressed in our churches: How to stop “doing church” and start BEING church again. This year’s institute will offer some handles on what a missional church looks like and how you as a leader encourage that process.

Most of our congregations do missions. We support missions and mission programs. Winesman will lead us in discussing how we encourage conversations in our churches around what “being” church looks like, what being missional looks like. We will have the opportunity to share ideas, experiences, hopes and fears with fellow leaders from across the country.

This would be an excellent opportunity for leadership teams from congregations to attend and focus on the specific implications for your particular setting. The Institute will be held on Wednesday, July 1, from 1-5 p.m. in the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.
