Man Behind the Curtain… or Camera

By now I am sure you have been inundated with the story of Ted Williams. He is the homeless man with a golden voice who was given a second chance at life after drug abuse and time in jail. His story has become the feel good tale of the new year but what is most intriguing is the story of the man behind the viral video featuring Williams. His name is Doral Chenoweth III. In a recent story on CNN.com, Chenoweth was profiled as a person of faith who loves helping those in need. He frequently helps out the homeless and has traveled to Africa with his family to help impoverished people. He truly cares about others and seeks to meet their needs.

I found his story refreshing because it reminded me of the work of CBF and the Fellowship movement. We are a network of people who will most likely never make the news or reach a celebrity status but we are willing to take risks in order to care for all of God’s people. We care for those without homes, water, food, or shelter. We seek to do justice in an unjust world. We are trying to be the representation of Christ in the world whether or not our deeds are ever covered by the national media. I am proud to be a part of what CBF is doing in the world and I am thankful for people like Doral Chenoweth who continue to challenge me to be the presence of Christ to others.
