Jack Wehmiller begins, “I want to tell you this story…. because this is why we do what we do.” Jack, and his wife, C.J., serve as CBF field personnel. From their home in Gainesville, Ga., the couple coordinates ministry efforts in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The Wehmillers are passionate about their work, and that passion is obvious every time Jack begins a sentence “I want to tell you this story… ”
On Thursday of the CBF General Assembly, Jack talked with a room full of Fellowship Baptists about efforts to bring clean water to people in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. He told stories about delivering water bottles to hospital patients shortly after last year’s devestating earthquake and about children who are healthier because of new water filtration systems, about women who sing praises to God.
Jack and C.J. have recently concentrated their efforts on batays, villages located in sugar cane fields. They work alongside the villagers and local churches to provide water filtration systems to thousands of people. And, they are looking for more partners — churches and individuals in the United States — so they can expand their ministry. If you are passionate about providing clean water, join CBF’s poverty and transformation community on Facebook or find Jack Wehmiller and ask him to tell you a story.
