One Idea, Four Paragraphs

I met today with a Seminary Student interesting in blogging. He’s an aspiring writer and wanting to sharpen his skills and deepen his discipline.

My advice to him, write what you know. Write about one central thought. Write about four paragraphs (or less) for each blog post. Write with passion and with the reader in mind.

“I think I can do this!” he responded enthusiastically.

Those are pleasing words to a teacher. Too often, participants in training go away overwhelmed, overloaded, and overburdened. Today, my friend went away excited, focused, and his burden was lightened. This is what teaching is all about…ministry too perhaps! Write on!
