Celebrating World Refugee Day – June 20, 2013

This Thursday—June 20—is World Refugee Day.

The United Nations General Assembly resolved in 2001—on the 50th anniversary of the U.N. Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees—to set aside June 20 to celebrate as World Refugee Day.

World Refugee Day is observed on this day every year by countless civic groups in more than 100 countries and honors the courage, strength and determination of women, men and children who are forced and have been forced to flee their homelands under threat of persecution, conflict and violence.

Throughout the week, we will be featuring here at www.cbfblog.com columns from Cooperative Baptist Fellowship field personnel around the world who work and minister with refugees.

Be sure to check back each day for a new post in observance of World Refugee Day.
