Mike Oliver, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Madison, Alabama, opened the Oct. 2 meeting of the CBF Governing Board with a devotional urging his fellow board members to heed a call to remember.

There is a call to remember throughout the Bible, Oliver said, particularly the call to remember God.

We’re called to remember acts of God in our world and in our lives, the sabbath, the orphan, the widow and the stranger, Oliver said. And the call to “Do this in remembrance of me” is on little tables in church sanctuaries everywhere.

“It’s a terrible thing to forget,” Oliver said.

Framed around “who,” “what,” and “why,” Oliver then shared the things he’s trying to remember.

To conclude, he asked “What do you need to remember?”
