“My kid is turning out just like me. Well played, karma. Well-played,” wrote an anonymous contributor. Parenting is tough. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not the parent I want to be.
For all our celebrations of great organizational leaders, they can’t hold a candle to stay-at-home parents. That’s not my opinion but the evaluation of Forbes. When examining which roles require the greatest skill and impose the greatest burdens, the business magazine ranked Stay-At-Home Parents as America’s most challenging leadership role (citation). And to think, this ranking is a few years old, well before the COVID-19 pandemic drastically challenged families.
“Dear God, hold my parents. Soothe them if anywhere in their minds is a tormenting demon whispering that my mistakes are their fault or that they could have done better. Let them know I get it now,” urged Bunmi Laditan on the CBF Podcast Conversation.
We sat down with the writer and humorist about her new book, “Help Me, God, I’m a Parent.” Laditan’s work has appeared in The Huffington Post and Parenting.com while appearing on CBS Sunday Morning, The Today Show, and Good Morning America.
