CBF Field Personnel and Partners Address Human Trafficking

While visiting with some young friends from Iran, I mentioned the American custom of recognizing mother’s on a particular day in May. The young woman told me that though the government in Iran sets a day to recognize mothers according to the Islamic calendar, she prefers to celebrate on March 8th, International Women’s Day. Why is everyone all “a twitter” about Twitter?

This past weekend, North Carolina CBF held their annual general assembly. They focused on authentic evangelism. Just days before the assembly, they asked those of us who had twitter accounts to be a part of their group and to “twitter” the event. Basically, some of us posted online through twitter short statements of less than 140 characters rather consistently permitting anyone who followed the group to glean insight as to what was happening during the event. Experiencing God in Cyberspace

Online outreach: Nearly 75% of North America is online with only a bare 21% in the Middle East. Isolation and Technology:I’m an online mentor. Part 3

This is the third and final glimpse into the effects of technology on our society.  Many are quick to state that technology is leading to greater isolation, and this may be somewhat true.  However, there is also an emerging sense of community birthing itself via social networking sites.  This “new” form of relationship building can … Continue reading

Isolation and Technology: Social Networking and Privacy, Part 2

I have been researching technology and its effects, as seen through the news media.  The article Beyond the digital divide lies a new world of intimacy was a really interesting read.  I was particularly interested in the distinction between an understanding of privacy that the reporter becomes aware of, and the differing methods for developing … Continue reading
