In October the CBF National Coordinating Council endorsed the United Nations Millenium Development Goals. You can read the news release by clicking here. This endorsement helped bring attention to the goals among CBF partnering congregations and I’ve received several requests asking for resources for educating and promoting the goals among church memberships. Here are a few resources that are sure to come in handy:
- United Nations Millenium Development Goals – an original source for information on the MDG’s.
- CBFWiki – a simple overview of the Goals.
- God’s Mission in the World – a 6 session, downloadable PDF collaboration between the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and The Episcopal Church, God’s Mission in the World is an “ecumenical Christian study guide on global poverty and the millenium development goals.”
- The Micah Challenge – an organization/emphasis whose aim, in part, is the achievement of the MDG’s.
Have you run into any resources that you’d like to share or have found helpful? If so, please leave a comment here or on the CBFwiki discussion board. We’d also love to know what you’re church is doing to emphasis the MDG’s. Please let us know of your hopes, frustrations, and concerns.
Do your part. The Kingdom comes. God promised.
The Episcopal Church has developed some great resources focusing on the MDGs and provides links to other excellent resources. Here are some highlights:
Resources for adults:
What Can One Person Do: Faith to Heal a Broken World – “simply the best MDG primer out there. Perfect for individual or congregational study.”
God’s Mission in the World – “a study guide jointly produced by TEC and ELCA that emphasis our opportunities in political advocacy.”
Mission and Ministry through the MDGs – “a wonderful, theologically grounded study resource from the Diocese of North Carolina.”
Eradicating Global Poverty: A Christian Study Guide on the MDGs – “an excellent six-session study guide.”
